And the BlogtourNYC chronicles continue….
On Thursday morning, after breakfast at the TRYP Hotel, we taxied over to the Architectural Digest Home Design Show [ADShow]. Since the ADShow was a first for me, I was eager to see many of the products Modenus had been curating for months leading up to the big event.
Upon arrival to the ADShow, the Blogtour group received a brief tour around the building beginning with a stop at Modenus’ booth and then onto visit the Blogtour sponsors. I think out of sheer excitement, I failed to capture our time on this brief tour. However, not to worry, my Blogtour buddy, Hannah of DreamwallStyle, captured many images of our arrival to the ADShow.
There’s nothing better than a picture that speaks. Thank goodness I managed to capture at least one image of this scene, the Marys and Mimosa tweetup, which was exciting to say the least. Take a bunch of twitter friends and put ‘em in a room to meet in real life. It’s not often we get to meet the friendly faces behind the tweets we encounter everyday. I don’t even recall having time to get a mary or mimosa because I was so busy chatting and saying HI to everyone.

My Favorite pieces at the ADShow
BUENO GLASS
This interesting art piece is by Bueno Glass. It’s different and I fancy different. Bueno Glass is the collaboration of husband and wife team, Thor and Jennifer Bueno, who began working together 10 years ago. Their spirited cleverness is creatively evident in the mixture of smooth and rough textures seen here. I invite you to learn more about the creative process behind Bueno Glass.

Artsaics
Beauty and bling delivered with excellence. Artsaics brands themselves on being crafters of mosaics and fine natural stone. Each stone offers its own unique characteristic in color, shade and texture. These hand crafted stone & antique mirror mosaics would make a fascinating backdrop to anything that adorns them.

Nick Davis
Unique in style, unique in character…add a little touch of whimsy with taste. International artist and designer, Nick Davis produces bronze furniture and sculpture in his studio-foundry based in the UK. His work offers a bit of unexpected ambiance and that’s what I call art.

Trueform Concrete
Who says concrete can’t be stunning. Trueform concrete is a New Jersey based concrete fabricator who specializes in concrete fireplace surrounds, concrete tables, concrete sinks and other concrete products. I love the use of concrete in furniture applications and Trueform has does an incredible job.

Ross Edwards Designs
These porcelain light fixtures casts such a fanciful silhouette, which appealed to me instantly. They are brilliant in design and much better looking in person. The stunning use of circles seen in these Ross Edwards lamps are absolutely amazing.

Mally Skok
Pink and orange rocks; period. Ikat Crazy is the latest addition to Mally Skak‘s textile line, which is available in linen and silk taffeta. Mally details a nice story of her love affair with Ikat fabrics. Truly a fun fabric, I love the hand of this textile and envision this playful pattern in my daughter’s bedroom.

The New Traditionalists
What’s in a name – tradition with a twist. I love this line: “If you believe that “traditional” and “cool” are not mutually exclusive, you are one of The New Traditionalists”. A bold new perspective is evident throughout their lines of furniture. What I like best is their embrace of color.
Many of these brands can be found on Modenus.

Hi –
I noticed that you stopped by our booth at the 2012 Architectural Digest Show. I am glad to read that you enjoyed the concrete products that we displayed and it’s always nice to see someone who appreciates the use of concrete outside its original intended purpose. Concrete countertops are a fun alternative to conventional surface and we appreciate your awareness of the product! Thanks for sharing our work as well as the other artisans you mentioned with your readers.
Thanks,
Dave
